Carlsens retains world champion title

The most one-sided world championship match in recent history was won by Magnus Carlsen in Dubai by a margin of 7,5:3,5 after challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi blundered repeatedly. Carlsen nets the biggest purse of his career €1,2 million. Online viewership records for chess competitions were broken. FIDE plans to hold the next world championship match in spring 2023.
